Silver 2: Stone Setting

There comes a time in every RockHound’s journey when they muse, “What am I going to do with all these stones?” This fundamental workshop in stone setting may be just the answer to that question. The class is designed for learners with solid torch control who have the ability to direct heat in order to achieve a desired outcome.This is a techniques oriented class.

Silver 2: Earrings

Earrings fit almost everyone and come in many shapes and sizes, with and without gems. In this class, we will focus on contemporary style using techniques and materials ranging from the simple silver wire dangle to more complex, articulated multi-stone drops.  Some traditional sterling as well as Argentium silver will be used. You may expect to complete at least five pairs of earrings.

Silver 1.5: Fabricating Settings to Showcase Cabochons

Explore ways to set cabs that enhance the beauty of the stone as well as holding it securely in place. This class requires solid soldering skills, the ability to measure and cut with accuracy and a desire to step outside the basic bezel box. Materials and stones for three settings a kit of bars and two setting tools along with handouts. This class is designed to develop stone setting techniques. You are welcome to bring your own stones and silver to complete additional settings or to place settings in a jewelry design.
